Tammy & Paul in Colorado Springs, CO
A majestic setting imbued Tammy and Paul's Colorado wedding with a fairytale feel.
Photos By: Cayton Photography, Colorado Springs
Location: Glen Eyrie Castle, Colorado Springs
Pastor Brent Warkentin, Tammy‘s pastor since she was in the sixth grade, conducted the ceremony, driving all the way from Kansas to be there for the couple. Decorations included a line of wrought iron, lantern-like candleholders and a winter garland of evergreens and pine. Tammy‘s father built an eight-foot arch, also adorned with lights and garland, under which the couple exchanged their vows.
Tammy and Paul held both the ceremony and reception at the Glen Eyrie Castle, a historical site built in the late 1800s by General Palmer, the founder of Colorado Springs. Nestled against the ranges that surround Pikes Peak, the castle sits right next to the Garden of the Gods, a dramatic formation of rocks. "It feels like a fairyland with the beautiful castle in the middle of it all," Tammy says.
Tammy wore a white gown with princess seams, beaded corset, and chiffon skirt.
Tammy and Paul's choice of venue -- the romantic Glen Eyrie Castle -- helped to make their wedding day feel like a fairy tale come to life.

The Date January 11

Tammy and Paul both have a close attachment to religion. The two met at a church-sponsored water-skiing retreat, and soon they started dating actively (actively being the operative word--the two were regulars at a swing dancing class and spent time snow skiing). On a hike through Estes Park, they decided to stop by a local stream. It was there that Paul proposed. "He picked out the ring himself and did an awesome job!" Tammy says. The couple planned their big day in just four months.
