Kate & Matt in Colorado Springs, CO

Location: The Broadmoor Hotel, Colorado Springs
Inspired by a beautiful bouquet of yellow calla lilies she‘d found on The Knot, Kate decided to carry the same lovely bouquet and use yellow as the lead color in her palette.
A single yellow orchid pinned to a khaki suit with a yellow and navy tie made Matt‘s groomsmen true crowd-pleasers.
The seven bridesmaids wore navy, taffeta, cocktail-length, Vera Wang dresses that were "easy and fun," just the way Kate wanted. They tied navy grosgrain ribbons around their waists, while the maid of honor wore an ivory ribbon to stand out. "I loved the sheer portions at the bottom of the skirt," says Kate. "You could see the shape of their legs, and it made such a nice silhouette."
The couple kept their programs simple with quotes about love, friendship, and life at the bottom of each page.
The ceremony was held outside on a large deck facing west towards a gorgeous mountainous backdrop. They married under an altar decorated with large, light green and white hydrangeas.
Upon leaving the ceremony, guests were offered glasses of champagne garnished with fresh blueberries.
Matt and Kate shared their love of wine with guests by displaying their escort cards in corks. "My maid of honor personally wrote each card because she has such nice handwriting," explains Kate.
Kate grew up going to the pool and ice-skating at The Broadmoor Hotel. She attended her homecoming dances and prom there too. "The Broadmoor is such a fixture of our community," says Kate. "From the time I was a little girl I had always envisioned my wedding there."
The reception tables were accented with yellow floral centerpieces and two tall candlesticks with beaded lampshades on top. "At other weddings I‘ve attended the bouquets are so tall you can’t see anyone across the table," says Kate. "These added height to the tables without obstructing the view of our guests."
The simple, four-tiered cake was covered in white fondant and decorated with the couple‘s monogram and a navy blue fondant ribbon.
Kate and Matt wanted a first dance that would set an upbeat tone for the rest of the celebration, so they chose "Everlasting Love" by Carl Carlton.
A navy blue pashmina was draped over the chair of each female guest. The ladies were invited to take the wraps home as favors.
Right after her freshman year, Kate met Matt when she went to visit a friend's hometown in Upstate New York. They met during her first night there, connected instantly, and spent every night of her visit hanging out together. The couple dated long-distance for three years in college and spent summers interning together in New York and Washington, DC.

After college they both moved to New York City and then relocated back to Kate's home state of Colorado. On May 27th, 2006, during Kate's family reunion, Matt asked Kate to marry him atop a mountain after a long hike.
